2007 Hawaii Pro Bowl
Fall River High School cheerleaders were invited to the 2007 Hawaii Pro Bowl February 7th to the 13th. They have to pay a lot of money for this trip: around $3000 each person. They are independent of the school and are raising money through the help of their parents and fundraisers such as selling candles, concession stands, and more to come. The reason they got invited was because there was a private cheerleading camp at Fall River, and they worked really hard within a week, learning dances, routines, and cheers. At the end of the week, they all received superior ribbons, which are the highest ribbons one can get. Since they all got superior ribbons, they got invited to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii. All the teams that will be attending the Pro Bowl received superior ribbons. Around four hundred people are attending the Pro Bowl. The girls fly out and get there the 7th, then they practice the routine for the halftime show, and, depending on how well they performed as a team in their routine, the judges will decide whether they cheer for the pre game show or the halftime show. The Fall River cheerleaders, Jacky Keadle, Jenna Gularte, Brooke Oehmigen, kimberly Royce, Katie Stroud, Haley Martin, Calie Schneider, Hana Eades, and Kayla Ronan, are all excited and honored to be a part of the Pro Bowl in Hawaii. They are staying at a hotel on Waikiki beach-Be Jealous!
I have interviewed two of these girls on the cheerleading team. One of the girls I interviewed was Jacky Keadle feels really privileged that her squad was chosen to get to go to Hawaii because there are around 400 people going across the nation. Jacky has also been to Hawaii and loved it and can’t wait to go back. The good things about Hawaii are that it’s always warm, and so tropical. “It’s almost like being in another country even though we aren’t.” She also loves the culture there. Jacky cheerleaded two years in junior high in Washington and, now, this is her first year in high school cheerleading. She is cheerleading for basketball and can’t wait. She expects that this trip is going to be a really great experience, and that it is going to bond the squad even more than they already are. Also they are going to get to meet a lot of new people, and, for girls, who have never been to Hawaii, it’s going to be a great experience.

Wrestling season is just around the corner. The wrestling players are starting to get into shape and working hard to be all they can be. Kolman Eades had great things to say:
Q: Are you looking forward to wrestling season?
A: I’m very excited. Despite our lack of numbers, we should do relatively well.
Q: Do you think the team will do well this season?
A: We have many experienced wrestlers; I believe we have the ability to win the league tournament and duals.
Q: Who are some of the other wrestlers on the team?
A: Senior's Bryan Carter and Librado Venagas. Juniors Layn Strickland and Jose Venagas.
Layn Strickland, a member of the wrestling team had many great things to say.
Q: Are you excited that wrestling season is coming up?
A: Yeah, looking forward to another good season. Although football is great, its hard to change
sports fast.
Q: What do you enjoy most about wrestling?
A: I enjoy the traveling and the trips, and meeting people. People who wrestle tend to be nice
people, nicer than any other sports I have participated in.
Q: What would you say to somebody who has never been in wrestling but wants to be, how they would be able to get prepared for the season?
A: All I can say is get in shape, be prepared to work hard and hope you have a strong mentality.
Q: How hard do you have to work to become a good wrestler?
A: Many people think that anyone can wrestle. But wrestling is the hardest sport there is unarguably. It's the oldest, and most self driven sport.
Have a great season wrestlers and make our school proud.

A face dedicated to football but not recognized.
Layn Strickland has been playing football for three years for Fall River High School. He has played one year on junior varsity and two years in varsity. The reason he did not play two years in junior varsity is because he got moved up. He is a linebacker and a receiver. He prefers linebacker because he gets to lay people out and get many tackles each game; this is why he is our number one tackler this season. He is very excited that Fall River is dominating, but they do every year. His opinion about Fall River High is that it is awesome and not slacking in any perspective.
Fall River’s football team has been practicing almost constantly, and has dominated five games and lost none. Their most improved player is Brian Carter; he has worked very hard to earn a starting position and it’s great at it. Fall River’s most valuable player came up to a tossup between Nick Lakey and Garrett Barnet; even though all of the players are valuable, these two stand out the most. They are excellent players and due to their athleticism.
Fall River has won there homecoming game last Friday, October 5th against Weed High School. Layn also had a funny memory to share, which was one day when Nueg and he ended up in the fallout wrestling match and Nueg lost.
